Welcome to Penn State Berks!
At the start of each spring and fall semester, Penn State Berks offers a variety of programs, events, and activities designed to welcome new students to our campus community. These events have been created to help each student during their transition, whether that transition is from high school, another institution, or returning to education after taking time away from formal learning. These activities are coordinated and facilitated by Orientation Leaders, who are returning students. Many of our graduating students attribute their success and close relationships to opportunities that they took advantage of during their first weekend at Penn State Berks.
Topics covered during Welcome Weekend by Orientation Leaders, faculty, and professional staff include:
- We Are Penn State: The University and Individual Campus Culture
- navigating campus, physically and virtually
- pointers for adjusting to college life
- balancing classes, health, and wellness
- ways to get involved
- the importance of utilizing campus services
- opportunities for students to make connections
- ...and so much more!
As a welcome to new and returning students, the Office of Campus Life collaborates with Orientation Leaders, the Campus Activities Board, Student Government Association, and other clubs and organizations to put together Welcome Week. While some events have become staples that students can look forward to, each year the schedule is created with the input from our student leaders to create exciting opportunities for fun, memories, and connections to continue to develop. During our Community Weekend, the Orientation Leaders collaborate with the same groups to put together opportunities to relax after the first week of classes.
